Description

Zuckermann Harpsichord Flemish Style Single Manual Harpsichord has a hand painted soundboard, Flemish printed papers adorning the lid. Gold painted accents, faux marble exteriors, as well as a more austere appearance and a simple pedestal stand.

Sea Horse and other decorative Flemish papers adorn the inner lid are copies of those used by the Ruckers family and other keyboard instrument makers. The words MVSICA PELLIT CVRAS and SIC TRANSIT GLORIA MVNDI letter the top.

Old Latin used V for capitals and U for lower case. U didn't actually come into wide spread use in English until the 18th century. MUSICA PELLIT CURAS (Nature, the mistress of art.) and SIC TRANSIT GLORIA MUNDI (Thus passes the glory of the world).”

The Flemish harpsichord is well known in the history of harpsichord making. The most revered were built by the Ruckers and Couchet families. The combination of richness, directness, and nobleness of sound make these instruments ideal for a wide variety of literature
